I need to know if it's posisble to test an ECU. So far, the teardown of my GTV6's engine has uncovered no mechanical issues. Timing marks line up, valves open and close, crank turns easily by hand, no crunching noises or indication of internal distress, nothing noticeably wrong with the pistons. I'm going to do a compression test next. After that, it's a head removal. Whee.
An Alfisti noted it COULD be a bad electrical/electronics issue. The L-Jet ECU is pretty robust, but they do fail. I could be running on 3 cylinders, I could be getting partial injection, who knows. I just can't determine if there's a reliable way to test the ECU without just replacing it. Sort of an expensive test, although my herniated L4 and L5 would rather pay $100 than spend a weekend removing recalcitrant heads from the block.
Any ideas?

You can test it with a good test light and multimeter. The injectors are triggered on the ground side, and powered via a big main relay through series resistors. If one of the resistors is bad, it could knock out a bank of injectors. I don't think I've ever seen an L-jet injector fail outright. Dirty, yes, but never failed to work. If they have 12V at one side and a switching ground at the other, the ECU is working.

What are the symptoms? Any codes stored?
